COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Middlebury Food Pantry picked up its new box truck from Gates Automotive in Mishawaka on Monday after an October fundraiser raised over $70,000. The truck will help rescue hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of food and deliver it to neighbors in need.  ABC 57
  • Nappanee Parks will host a craft closet clean out on Feb. 7 at the West Park Pavillion at 500 North Nappanee Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event costs ($5 per person) and provides 2 craft kits and a treat until supplies last.  ABC 57

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Elkhart County EMA upgraded winter weather travel conditions to a Watch this Monday afternoon — officials are monitoring roads that may become dangerous while residents are advised to leave home only if necessary. Updates will be provided on the agency’s Facebook page.  ABC 57
  • Firefighters at the local fire department keep warm in the severe winter by carrying extra gloves, hoods & warm gear in their trucks. They wash and dry fire trucks indoors to avoid freezing and ensure they remain ready for emergencies.  ABC 57

  • Residents in Bourbon must boil water for safety as local officials maintain the advisory until further notice.  16 News Now
