COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Elkhart County Parks will host the Spring Constellations Explore the Night event at Bonneyville Mill County Park on April 4th at 8 p.m. Guests will meet at the Briar Patch Shelter to join a park naturalist, make star charts, and learn the mythology behind spring constellations while enjoying snacks and weather permitting telescope viewing; the program costs $3 per person and requires advanced registration.  ABC 57
  • Elkhart County held the Leprechaun Leap Saturday at Re-Pete's Simonton Lake Tavern to raise funds for local cancer patients and their families. Attendees could jump in the lake or watch for $25 — kids 12 and under were free as the event featured a costume contest and a live broadcast from Froggy 102.7 from noon until 4 p.m.  WSBT
  • Goshen First Church held its annual Empty Bowl Project today to raise funds for First Light Mission Shelter; the event featured soup donations totaling 100 gallons from 20 area restaurants and handmade bowls (between 400 and 500) crafted by the Goshen Clay Artists Guild.  ABC 57

  • Saturday, the Hall of Heroes Superhero Museum held a special event in Elkhart to mark 50 years since the X-Men first appeared in Marvel Comics. Comic artists and cosplayers gathered to celebrate the anniversary and meet illustrator Scott Rosema—who urged aspiring artists to keep drawing.  16 News Now

  • A new 20% tariff on imported goods from China is raising concerns in the bridal industry in Elkhart as most wedding dresses are made overseas. Owner Danny Reynolds said dress prices might rise 20—50% and urged customers to lock in current prices before further increases.  WSBT
