  • Police identified a man killed when strong winds blew over his Amish buggy on County Road 20 near County Road 41 southeast of Middlebury.  16 News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Open enrollment begins today for Concord Community School's new full-day preschool program at four elementary schools, serving 80 students starting the 2025-26 school year—funded in part by a $4.2 million grant and Title I dollars—to give children a strong start for kindergarten. District leaders expect the program to boost early academic skills and readiness in Elkhart County.  WSBT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Sunday afternoon, officials said some Michiana areas did not hear tornado sirens because of system glitches — the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado in Starke and Marshall counties that injured one person.  16 News Now

  • Elkhart officials provided an update on damage and cleanup from Sunday’s severe storms—Mayor Rod Roberson said repair teams are assessing damage and planning repairs in affected neighborhoods.  WSBT
  • Elkhart city officials held a news conference on Monday morning to update residents on damage and cleanup plans after a severe weather outbreak. Officials said city crews are working to restore affected areas (more updates are expected soon).  16 News Now
