ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Elkhart Police responded to a fatal crash early this morning near Concord High School on East Mishawaka Road near Minutemen Way and closed parts of East Mishawaka Road and County Road 20 between South Main Street and US 33 and County Road 111 for a few hours — the investigation is ongoing. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita filed a lawsuit against Syracuse, claiming that town officials misused funds to pay for private health insurance instead of following the proper group plan – an audit from January 2015 to December 2023 found the misused funds, and the state is seeking repayment, damages and other relief. 16 News Now
- ➤ An amendment to Senate Bill 197 in Indiana would make sleeping outside a crime punishable by a $500 fine or 60 days in jail—if law enforcement does not offer warnings, transport, or shelter referrals. Sheila McCarthy of New Day Intake Center said the change could worsen homelessness—while one co-author from Elkhart County has not yet responded. 16 News Now
