  • Ten veterans were honored today at Mission BBQ in Mishawaka at a pinning ceremony where they received plaques, certificates, and a picture unveiling. Organizer Bob Evans said the event brought him one of his best feelings after hosting hundreds of ceremonies over nearly ten years.  16 News Now
  • Today, The Salvation Army of Goshen is hosting its 62nd annual Pancake Day fundraiser from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1013 N. Main Street. Tickets cost $8—proceeds will support community programs—and help fund services for children and seniors.  16 News Now

  • A Bremen woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly practicing medicine without a license—facing charges of unlawful practice, corrupt business influence and improper massage therapy licensure—with search warrants served at a Bremen home, a spa and a business in Goshen.  16 News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Concord High School in Elkhart named Tyler Leighton as its new Boys Basketball Head Coach pending School Board approval on May 5. Leighton, who led Jimtown to sectional and regional championships—he also helped Penn High School win titles—will take over a 13-10 team after Coach Derrick DeShone moved to an administrative role.  ABC 57

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former Elkhart Mayor Dick Moore died this morning after a long career in public service, having served two terms as mayor and held roles as street commissioner and fire chief. Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson said the city is in shock—his statement recognized Moore’s deep dedication to the community—while residents remember his leadership.  WSBT
