- ➤ The Salvation Army in Goshen hosted its 62nd Pancake Day Fundraiser on Friday morning and more than 2,000 people enjoyed bottomless pancakes, sausage and juice for $8 per plate to help fund the food pantry and local programs—service clubs volunteered for the event. WSBT
- ➤ Today at 3 p.m., Baugo Community Schools will reopen the Historic Jimtown Gymnasium with a ribbon cutting and open house at 29101 C.R. 22 in Elkhart—its $3.5 million renovation was funded partly by a $350,000 grant and local donors including Bruce and Sandy Clark and the Dobbs family. The building, now named the Craig and Teneen Dobbs Jimtown Community Center, will serve the community with modern upgrades while keeping its historic charm. ABC 57

- ➤ Grace College announced its Center for Literacy and Learning received $80,000 in state funds from Health First Kosciusko to support extra reading tutoring, health sessions, and physical activity equipment for local second- and third-grade students preparing for the IREAD exam—free sessions will begin in September with support from local health groups. - ➤ Governor Mike Braun's pending signature on the new budget will introduce a universal school voucher program that allows every student to attend any school—officials warn that moving property tax funds could reduce support for traditional public schools. The budget also cuts $744 million in funding, a change that has divided views on education quality statewide. WSBT
