ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Michiana reached nearly $5 per gallon (according to local drivers), a record that has many concerned about rising fuel costs. The weather service warns of First Alert Weather Day Saturday morning with light rain, snow flurries, and a light freeze that could hurt sensitive plants.  16 News Now
  • An outage at the Whiting refinery spiked gas prices across the region after starting Sunday night, though some Elkhart stations (like Murphy USA) still offer rates around 3.99 per gallon.  WSBT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fourth graders at Bittersweet Elementary got a hands-on life science lesson with a classroom pet named Shelby (thanks to Martin’s grant awarded on Apr. 30) that supports ongoing efforts to enhance science education.  16 News Now
