- ➤ On Thursday, community members and firefighters pushed the new fire truck into Fire Station 4 in a ceremony that happens only once every 15 to 20 years. Fire Chief Rodney Dale said the updated equipment increases safety and cuts response times and expects another truck to be pushed in this July. WSBT
- ➤ The 2025 Quilt Gardens season kicked off in Elkhart County on Thursday night when the first flowers were planted at the 4-H fairgrounds — 16 gardens along the Heritage Trail will open on May 30. 16 News Now

- ➤ A fire broke out on Thursday morning at Dexter Axle on the east side near CR 17 at 8:30 a.m.—fire officials said a dust collector bagging system caught fire outside the building, no one was injured and crews controlled the blaze within an hour. WSBT

- ➤ Indiana lawmakers are weighing Senate Bill 2 that would add a work requirement, more eligibility checks and a cap on Medicaid recipients to cut costs and curb fraud. Some warn the changes may hurt nearly 2 million Hoosiers — most of whom are disabled or working — leaving many without needed help. WSBT
