  • The Humane Society of Elkhart County has waived adoption fees for dogs and cats until Saturday, June 14th as its shelter reached critical capacity, urging families to adopt to help ease the overcrowding.  16 News Now

  • A train blocked traffic on Tomahawk Trail in Nappanee Monday morning when it hit a trailer being pulled by a truck — no injuries were reported as the scene was cleared.  WSBT
  • A 63-year-old Millersburg man, Ronald Mast, died just before 3:45 a.m. Monday when his Ford SUV struck a horse on County Road 38 west of County Road 43—police said—at the scene.  16 News Now

  • South Bend Medical Foundation encourages blood donation to save lives after donor Dan Wesolowski needed 50 units following a serious car accident. Local blood drives continue throughout June with one in Elkhart today at 301 South Main Street from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.  WSBT
  • The Northern Indiana Hispanic Health Coalition will hold a symposium on June 13 at Elkhart Health and Aquatics to address high infant mortality in the Hispanic community—featuring state health commissioner Dr. Lindsay Weaver and other experts—while discussing barriers in prenatal care.  ABC 57
