- ➤ Recent college graduates in Indiana are facing record-high unemployment as studies report their rate is near 6%—about 2% above the national average. Notre Dame economics professor Kirk Doran said the trend began before the pandemic and that automation led companies to change hiring practices, forcing many grads to seek jobs in multiple industries. - ➤ Preliminary data from the Indiana Department of Health showed the 2024 infant mortality rate dropped to 6.3 deaths per 1,000 live births from 6.6 last year—if confirmed, it would be the lowest rate since 1900.
