  • Organizers have planned a Stand by Me Walk at Howard Park to benefit caregivers of Alzheimer’s and dementia patients—local residents will join the event to boost support and raise awareness about caregiver challenges.  16 News Now
  • The 45th annual Elkhart Rhapsody Festival and the new Island Park Playground ribbon cutting ceremony took place Friday afternoon. Elkhart Parks and Recreation installed an Aventis tower for children of all abilities and is planning six accessible playgrounds throughout the city.  ABC 57
  • The Elkhart Parks and Recreation Department will offer summer day camps—lessons and concerts to give residents more local fun options. Superintendent Jamison Czarnecki discussed these plans in a recent interview with local news.  16 News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Elkhart police investigated a shooting that occurred overnight from Saturday into today on the 300 Block of West Garfield Avenue—multiple people were shot as the investigation continues.  ABC 57

  • First Presbyterian Church in Elkhart will host a Jazz Sunday Celebration on June 22 at 10 a.m. tied to the Elkhart Jazz Festival, featuring multi-instrumentalist David Bennet, vocalist Erica Kinsman Segota, Fred Powell on trumpet, Sean Patrick on bass, Jim Bollero on drums and Celia Weiss on piano + the musicians will perform gospel songs including a spirited rendition of 'When the Saints Go Marching in.'  ABC 57

  • The city’s Parks and Recreation Department announced its summer activities that include Dad Week in Michiana— a family-focused series of events planned for the coming weeks. More details on schedules and locations will be provided soon.  16 News Now

  • Goshen, NorthWood and Westview high school baseball teams played in their semi-state games on Saturday as they aimed to earn spots in the state finals. The games were part of the regional tournament—deciding which teams would move on to the state championship round.  16 News Now
