ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 35-year-old Goshen woman lost control on Shattuck Road early Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. when her car struck a tree and she was ejected, with drugs and alcohol suspected as factors and no seatbelt in use, so she was taken to Elkhart General Hospital while deputies continue investigating.  ABC 57

CULTURE NEWS

  • Elkhart will host two Juneteenth events on June 19—one at the Historic Roosevelt Center from 4 to 8 p.m. featuring a flag raising, live DJ, and mayoral address, and another at the Public Library from 5 to 8 p.m. with live jazz, food trucks, and local vendors.  16 News Now
  • The Hall of Heroes Comic Con 2025 will double in size and be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Northern Indiana Events Center at the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart, and it will feature over 100 vendors and regional artists, vintage comics, toys and collectibles, displays including the 1960s Batmobile plus celebrity guests.  ABC 57

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Assistant Superintendent Monica Kegerreis said Fairfield Community Schools is reconfiguring Millersburg Elementary Middle School for grades K-8 into Millersburg Elementary School for grades K-6, with the 7th and 8th graders moving to Fairfield Junior Senior High School; the transition began during the 24-25 school year. The board minutes will be approved in July—then paperwork will be filed with the Indiana Department of Education to finalize the change.  ABC 57

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rep. Rudy Yakym visited The WNDU Studios on June 17 to announce that reporter Mark Peterson's retirement was entered in the Congressional Record—marking a special recognition of his career.  16 News Now
  • The Elkhart Street Department will pave streets from Monday to Friday, closing parts of Windsor Avenue, Southview Drive, and Northpoint Boulevard with different segments scheduled each day. Residents must remove vehicles before 7 a.m. and plan alternate routes during the work plus follow barricade instructions for safety.  ABC 57

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Elkhart’s northeast side will soon see 86 new single-family homes built in the Boulder Run subdivision, with homes ranging from 1,200 to 1,500 square feet and priced between $300,000 and $400,000. City officials are using tax increment financing to raise about $3.1 million that lowers lot costs by nearly $40,000—utility work will begin in the next 6 months and construction is scheduled to start next year.  WSBT
