Good morning, Elkhart.

After Friday's storms left over 50,000 customers without power across Michiana, about 30,000 Indiana Michigan Power users remain dark as of early Saturday (with 12,000 affected by NIPSCO and 10,000 by Midwest Energy) as utilities work to restore service, mainly in southwest Michigan.

Elkhart County Emergency Management is leading recovery as tornadoes left some families without power—teams are going door-to-door to assess damage and coordinate food supply.

The agency is preparing for more severe weather while urging residents to document damage and contact insurance.
