- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County gave 34 families in Oak Grove Mobile Home Park six months’ notice to move and provided guidance and financial resources so that 32 families have secured new homes. The non-profit is helping the remaining two families as it finalizes plans to transform the 9-acre site into Woodfield Crossing—a new community with a mix of housing options. 16 News Now
- ➤ The Elkhart County Humane Society is waiving all pet adoption fees through July 19 as part of its Empty the Shelters event—animals will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before they are adopted. WSBT

- ➤ Deputies responded Saturday at 9:53 p.m. to a hit-and-run on the 24000 block of C.R. 18 when a 46-year-old bicyclist was struck by an unknown vehicle—he was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries while police investigate. ABC 57

- ➤ The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that S.R. 39 between S.R. 2 and 18th Street in La Port will close on or after July 14 through early August for pipe replacement and intersection widening. Motorists should use the official detour route — following S.R. 2, US 35, and US 6 — to avoid delays during the US 35 pavement project. ABC 57
- ➤ Elkhart County Emergency Management is reviewing flood plains and testing cell phone and NOAA radio alerts to help residents stay safe during severe weather. Officials said the county is working with local partners and using community feedback to improve future safety measures—steps taken in response to lessons learned from extreme weather events elsewhere. - ➤ St. Joseph County Council will vote soon on removing the requirement for companies applying for tax breaks to show they are hiring minorities. The move — which could change eligibility guidelines for local applicants — will be discussed at an upcoming meeting. 16 News Now
