  • On July 15, Cultivate Food Rescue celebrated completing its capital campaign and installing a new solar canopy at its facility, marking a step toward more sustainable food rescue operations. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • This afternoon a Jeep struck two construction workers at a roadwork site on E. Bristol Street near Martin’s Super Market and Cobblestone Boulevard, leaving one worker with non-life-threatening injuries treated at a hospital while the other sustained serious injuries and the driver remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators.  16 News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities arrested 61-year-old Mark Lambright—who repeatedly called 911 non-emergency and punched an officer on July 9 at an apartment on Krider Drive in Middlebury—on charges including battery and resisting law enforcement after he grabbed a deputy’s taser and kicked a jail officer during transport.  ABC 57

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ivy Tech has partnered with AWS to offer classes and programs that will train students for jobs at Amazon's new data center near New Carlisle. Two new data center courses will be offered in the fall and a construction course will start in the spring—providing skills for future work.  WSBT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The new consolidated Elkhart County Courthouse did not open as planned yesterday because contractors are still finishing the $94 million complex on U.S. 33 — a grand opening is now set for Sept. 5 as they work to avoid liquidated damages.  ABC 57

SPORTS NEWS

  • Notre Dame will open its 2025 season at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami against the Hurricanes in 47 days—marking its fifth straight road opener as the team is favored by 3.5 points and will see a rookie quarterback take the field.  16 News Now
