- ➤ A 37-year-old Goshen man, Turelle Hopkins, was arrested on July 22 after he fought with Elkhart police while exiting a porta potty at McNaughton Park (701 Arcade Ave.) after curfew was in effect, and he now faces charges of battery against a public safety official, resisting law enforcement, and refusal to identify himself. - ➤ Elkhart authorities ruled the death of 50-year-old Anthony Null a homicide after his body was found in the St. Joseph River near Beardsley Avenue last Thursday — he died from a gunshot and no arrests have been made. 16 News Now

- ➤ Teens and young adults in Elkhart can enroll in a babysitting certification class offered by the Cleveland Township Fire Department and Pro Safety Innovations on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire department on County Road 6—students will earn a 2-year certificate, learn hands-only CPR, and gain skills for caring for children of different ages for $40 with limited spots available. 16 News Now
