- ➤ On Friday, August 15, the Great Cardboard Boat Race will take place at LaSalle Bristol Pond as Crossroads United Way hosts the event—featuring the Rockin' and Rowin' theme, an 11:00 a.m. start, and races at 3:00 p.m.—to raise funds that support families in Elkhart, LaGrange and nearby counties. - ➤ American Legion Post 210 hosted its third annual Michiana Food Truck Showdown in Middlebury last Saturday with 25 food trucks selected to offer a mix of cuisines; the event attracted thousands from across Michiana—offering games, raffles, and inflatables while proceeds supported future projects. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Elkhart Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Friday when a 1990 Ford Mustang failed to stop at a stop sign on C.R. 102 and struck a tree—the passenger was treated at Elkhart General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries while the driver was cited for operating while intoxicated.
