- ➤ The Humane Society of Elkhart County installed a free microchip scanner station at Studebaker Park—making it easier for pet owners to quickly reunite lost pets with their families. Animal control says the station is available any time and it has already helped return pets to their homes. WSBT
- ➤ Dozens of teams raced their cardboard boats at LaSalle Bristol Pond on Friday to raise funds for Crossroads United Way & nearly 50 local nonprofits, with organizer Bill Purcell saying the race helps support programs for hunger and domestic violence & local needs. WSBT

- ➤ Elkhart police arrested 31-year-old Christian Hernandez Gonzalez after he allegedly ran over a 42-year-old woman with his SUV near the 100 block of E. Lusher Avenue on August 8 — officers later found him on the 400 block of E. Simonton Street and charged him as she suffered serious, potentially life-threatening injuries, with the incident linked to a previous relationship. 16 News Now
