- ➤ The South Side Soda Shop in Goshen has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation—supported by American Express—to help upgrade its historic building after a fire five months ago. The grant covers exterior improvements and may allocate up to $10,000 for operating expenses while offering one year of complimentary Resy OS. ABC 57
- ➤ The Humane Society of Elkhart County waived adoption fees through Saturday after it took in 86 rescued animals from a hoarding situation that left them in crowded, unhealthy conditions on Monday night—44 cats, 2 dogs and 32 other animals were rescued. The organization seeks caring adopters to help give these pets new homes. WSBT
- ➤ The City of Elkhart Parks and Recreation will hold a dedication ceremony at Gans Park on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m.—the new playground will offer free hot dog meals and ice cream for the first 100 attendees, making it one of six upgraded local parks designed for neighborhood families. Residents can also get information from several City departments on-site at 1498 Folsom Street. ABC 57
- ➤ Matt Russell from the Humane Society of St. Joseph County introduced dog Prince Eric on TV today—he was excited to be featured and is now ready for adoption at the shelter on Grape Road in Mishawaka. 16 News Now

- ➤ A 53-year-old Edwardsburg man was seriously injured when a 26-year-old South Bend woman turned left from a convenience store parking lot onto State Road 23 near Douglas Road Saturday evening—he remains in hospital as of Monday morning. WSBT

- ➤ The River Bend Film Festival returns to downtown Goshen for its 22nd year with independent film screenings, workshops, filmmaker panels, and special events planned. The three-day event begins Thursday and runs through Saturday. 16 News Now
