BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new 171,000 square foot Amazon delivery station opened on Aeroplex Drive—near the airport in Elkhart. It employs 250 workers and uses electric delivery vehicles to move packages from other centers.  WSBT

CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday at approximately 12:09 a.m., officers responded to 130 N. Main St on the Riverwalk near McDonald's when a man was found unresponsive and pronounced dead—he was later identified as Donald Shepherd aged 55 in an active and ongoing death investigation.  ABC 57
  • Drew Damer, a Goshen man, pleaded guilty to child molesting in St. Joseph County and received a 10-year sentence with two years suspended while he was also sentenced in Elkhart County to one year in prison served consecutively—cell phone data linked him to messages with his young victims.  ABC 57

CULTURE NEWS

  • The art walk returns to downtown Elkhart today—bringing local artists together to showcase their work and inviting community members to enjoy creative displays. Organizers aim to boost community engagement through the event.  16 News Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ryan's Place moved into a new building on Regent Street this week to centralize its free grief services for children, now offering individual, group, and play therapy in an 18,000 square foot space + the move brings most services together while school programs continue at separate locations.  WSBT
  • The Humane Society of Elkhart County is closed until Friday (due to confirmed dog parvovirus cases) as it deep cleans its facility to limit the spread of the virus while implementing stricter sanitation and testing practices. Officials aim to protect the animals and prevent further outbreaks.  16 News Now
