COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Food Bank of Northern Indiana announced its September drive thru food distribution events that will serve 150 to 250 households at sites in St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, and other counties starting September 2. All distributions will offer pre-boxed or pre-bagged food on a first come, first served basis—supplies last. WSBT
- ➤ Ox Bow County Park will host a dog walk at Ox Bow Haus on Sept 5 at 5 p.m. The walk is expected to last 45 to 60 minutes—participants can choose group or individual routes while doggy bags and water will be provided with directions from the gatehouse. ABC 57
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Elkhart County Parks is hosting a free bird migration walk at Benton Spillway on Sept. 3 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., where visitors will see over 40 species moving south along the Elkhart River — binoculars will be provided for participants eight and older. ABC 57
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ St. Joseph County Council members opposed the proposed wireless tower at Clayview Farms in Clay Township after neighbors raised concerns—council members are now exploring alternative locations to address community issues. WSBT
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ After a championship game, Notre Dame is set to vie for a postseason spot with new coaches, players, and Michigan native CJ Carr as its starting quarterback—he makes his college debut amid high hopes for the team. ABC 57
- ➤ Notre Dame will open its season tonight at Hard Rock Stadium — they will face the Miami Hurricanes — with a new quarterback leading the Fighting Irish after last year’s national championship run. The game will mark a fresh start for the team. 16 News Now
- ➤ The Fighting Irish lost 27-24 to the Miami Hurricanes last night after a late rally in the fourth quarter. ABC57 interviewed two Notre Dame students at the Linebacker Inn who shared their concerns about the team's performance. ABC 57
