- ➤ Elkhart residents should expect extra traffic today as the Michiana area hosts jam-packed events — a free Celebration Under the Stars concert on Central Green and country singer Zach Bryan performing at Notre Dame Stadium. ABC 57
- ➤ Habitat for Humanity in Elkhart County gave Alexis Pellot a new home after she finished her work and submitted her application, and she will move in today. The program helps about 40 families—by having them work 250 hours on other homes—to earn an affordable mortgage and more space for their children. ABC 57
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Westview School Corp. superintendent resigned after he was arrested on three charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated this past weekend — his arrest led to an immediate resignation. 16 News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Elkhart County opened its new courthouse Friday in Goshen with a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony. The four-floor building houses 14 courtrooms and 173,000 square feet of space and was built nearly four years after a $111 million investment—officials say it will end the confusion caused by having two old courthouse sites. - ➤ The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department will host a four part self defense class for women 12 years or older starting Sept. 16 with sessions on Sept. 16, Sept. 18, Sept. 23, and Sept. 25 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.—registration is required by contacting Jen Purdue. ABC 57
