CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Stephonn Sutton was sentenced to 55 years—256 days of jail credit with 10 years suspended—for his role in the November 2024 shooting on Monroe Street that fatally wounded Toby Fisher. ABC 57
- ➤ A man was taken into police custody after a police chase started in Elkhart when he sped away from a stop for speeding at a local liquor store and ended with his Chevrolet Trailblazer rolling over near train tracks in Osceola—he was later found in a shed and taken to a hospital after a K9 bite while a woman passenger was found walking unharmed. 16 News Now
- ➤ Elkhart man Malcolm Walker was arrested for a shooting at a BP gas station in Michigan City around 6:29 p.m. Sunday that left a 40-year-old resident with leg wounds—he faces charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery, and Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon—and is set to appear in La Porte County Superior Court on September 16 at 8:30 a.m. ABC 57

- ➤ The City of Elkhart Parks & Recreation and WVPE Public Radio will host Island of Blues at Island Park downtown on Saturday, September 13 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.—the free festival will have live blues bands, food vendors, a beer garden, and a Coachmen Classic Cars car show. ABC 57
