- ➤ On September 18, community members in New Paris held a ceremony to honor a Vietnam veteran for his service—recognizing his sacrifices and lifelong contributions to our nation. 16 News Now
- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday at 3115 Homer Ave—starting construction on the first four homes in a 15-lot development. The four families, who completed homeownership and financial literacy programs, will join panel build events with Lippert later this month and in October. ABC 57
- ➤ Catsnip Etc. will host a fall festival fundraiser (5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 21060 U.S. 20 in Goshen) this Saturday to raise funds for its renovations. 16 News Now
- ➤ The 49th annual Nappanee Apple Festival is underway and is expected to attract more than 10 times the town's population—highlighted by a 600-pound apple pie made with 16 bushels of apples and 100 pounds of dough that will be cut at 11 a.m. today and remain available until 3 p.m. Saturday. - ➤ Premier Arts Academy in Elkhart is celebrating National Arts in Education Week by merging creative arts with core academic lessons—giving students a balanced learning approach. Head of School Ashley Molyneaux discussed the program on WNDU 16 News Now at Noon. 16 News Now
- ➤ Jimtown Elementary students visited Bethel University on Thursday — part of the 6th annual Walk Into My Future event held with Baugo Community Schools. The visit gave education majors practical experience while offering young students an early look at future career paths. WSBT

- ➤ Climate change is extending summer and shortening spring and fall as warm temperatures in Michiana have reached 10° above normal near South Bend. Forecasts show warm highs will stay through the end of the month—delaying cooler mornings until fall finally arrives. ABC 57
