  • John Glenn High School hosted its 17th annual Falloween Fest on Friday—hundreds of community members watched more than 100 parade participants during one of the largest parades in the area. The weekend festival on campus will continue with carnival rides, food vendors and performances as it raises funds for the school's scholarship program.  ABC 57

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Stanz Foodservice closed its doors after more than a century when Raydia Food Group shut down all its operations—leaving local restaurant owners scrambling to find a new supplier. Yellow Cat Cafe and others confirmed that employees were laid off and supply shortages are expected until remaining inventory runs out.  ABC 57

CRIME NEWS

  • Michiana Crime Stoppers is hosting a Fall Shredding Event today— from 8 a.m. to noon— at Southgate Crossing on C.R. 26 in Elkhart where residents can securely shred old documents with a $20 donation that funds rewards for crime tips.  ABC 57

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Beacon Health System doctor stressed the importance of colon cancer screenings to detect early signs of cancer — he encouraged Elkhart residents to speak with healthcare providers about scheduling these tests.  16 News Now

  • Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman said that facing the Razorbacks will be a major challenge — his team needs to improve its defense for the upcoming road game.  16 News Now
