COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Twelve local high school marching bands performed today at the C.G. Conn Invitational in Elkhart, an event partly sponsored by Conn Selmer (which has built instruments locally for 150 years) and celebrating hard work from weeks of band camps.  WSBT
  • Charity networkers and SHINE are hosting the Fall Craft Show at Moose Family Center in Elkhart where over 80 vendors will offer crafts and proceeds will benefit local organizations — the event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and include a bake sale and ticket raffle.  ABC 57
  • Community leaders and advocates will meet at the Lexington Event Center on Oct. 16 to discuss a child safety campaign honoring children lost to bullying and community violence—panelists include crisis peer Takisha Jacobs, child and parent advocate Rachel Van Alstine and Rep. Dale Devon. They will share insights and call on the community to address these tragic losses.  16 News Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Goshen College allowed the class of 2020 to finally walk the stage during homecoming weekend—alumni reunited and signed a historic book to complete a long-delayed milestone after their virtual graduation five years ago.  ABC 57
  • The Beacon Youth Summit will give kids and teens a chance to learn about the medical field at the Tolson Center in Elkhart on Saturday, Oct. 25. Beacon leaders Pam Morrison and Michale Nixon will guide the event—offering networking and career insights for young people.  16 News Now

  • Notre Dame beat Boise State 28-7 Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium—showing a strong defense that marked a major step for the team.  16 News Now
  • Notre Dame fans in Elkhart are gathering at tailgates as they prepare for the upcoming Boise State game — local supporters are setting up early for a day of team spirit.  16 News Now
