  • The City of Elkhart received $12 million from Lilly Endowment Inc. to support two neighborhood redevelopment projects under the READI program—one project will create nearly 400 new housing units as part of the Benham Neighborhood Regeneration Initiative.  16 News Now
  • In Elkhart, Latino families and business owners face fear and economic strain from increased ICE enforcement+ many Hispanic-owned shops are getting fewer customers as residents stay home.   • Concord High School will perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thanksgiving Day—an event that gives the school a national stage to display its talent.  16 News Now
  • Dr. Kevin Sabet—a leading marijuana policy expert—will host a discussion on the facts and myths of marijuana legalization in Elkhart, offering residents clear insights on the topic. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Hailey Atkinson, who moved to Michiana two years ago, saw the northern lights sparkle in Berrien County last May and again in October, and experts say stronger displays may soon light up the sky—possibly affecting power systems and GPS used by local farmers. Vince Ledvina explained that intense auroras can overload transformers and disrupt farming equipment.  ABC 57

  • Officials at the Indiana Toll Road held a cybersecurity awareness event to teach travelers and employees how to protect their information online—attendees learned strategies to identify and prevent cyber threats.   • A new hospice care team in Granger started offering help to Michiana families navigating end-of-life care—officials say more details will be shared soon.  16 News Now
  • Dr. Eric Knapp of Saint Joseph Health System warns that products boosted with protein—like muffins, donuts, and pancakes—may be less healthy than whole food sources such as meat, eggs, and dairy. He advises patients to aim for about 100 grams of protein daily to support muscle maintenance.  ABC 57
