- ➤ The Teal Pumpkin Project is helping Michiana children with food allergies enjoy Halloween by encouraging households to offer non-food treats (such as rubber ducks and pop-it toys) so kids can trick-or-treat safely. - ➤ The Food Bank of Northern Indiana will host mobile food pantries on Nov. 5th at LaCrosse Apostolic Christian Church, on Nov. 13th at the Starke County Fairgrounds, and on Nov. 20th at San Pierre Town Park—distributions run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. CST and will offer free boxes of assorted food items while supplies last. 16 News Now
- ➤ The Science Spooktacular event began Friday at the Elkhart 4-H Fairgrounds in Goshen and runs through today. Hosted by the E3 Robotics Center and American Chemical Society — the event offers interactive STEAM exhibits, a Sky Dome Planetarium, and a haunted photo booth with $5 admission per person and free entry for children under 5. - ➤ Americans are projected to spend an estimated 13.1 billion dollars on Halloween candy, costumes and decorations, up from 11.6 billion dollars in 2024 — 73% plan to celebrate — as many Michiana residents save money by reusing decorations while others set up elaborate displays for trick-or-treaters.
