  • Houchens Food Group acquired Kabelin Ace Hardware, a century-old local chain with eight Michiana locations—Kabelin announced the sale on social media and will retain all 150 employees. The stores will continue to use the Ace Hardware name as they operate under Houchens Food Group.  16 News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city of Elkhart reopened Benham Avenue after eight months of construction, switching one-way streets to two-way traffic and adding a multi-use walking path that fixed long-standing flooding issues—business owners report mixed reactions to the new traffic flows. City officials said the $15 million project is linked to improvements downtown that enhance drainage and parking.  WSBT
  • Elkhart native Jamee Decio announced her campaign for Indiana's 2nd Congressional District seat—she vows to fight rising costs by increasing wages and lowering costs for groceries, medical care and home ownership—and said she would support local industries while criticizing the current representative.  WSBT

  • The Pokagon Band and Four Winds Casinos donated $100,000 to Beacon Children’s Hospital from the Four Winds Invitational golf tournament proceeds this summer—money that will fund the NICU2Home system so families can see their newborns at home—hospital officials said.  16 News Now
